NCAA Programs with One-And-Done Basketball Players and their Impact on the NCAA Tournament

I've always been bothered by the NBA's One-and-done rule...

This study looked at NCAA schools who have had basketball players who only went to school for one year (one-and-done players) and their effect on the NCAA Tournament and collegiate basketball in general from 2011-2018. Findings show that schools who have had fewer one-and-done players are likely to have less success (measured by regular season attendance, regular season winning percentage, and post-season success) and higher roster turnover. Blue-blood schools (Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky) are more experienced in maintaining roster turnover and success. Also, findings suggest that NCAA Tournament TV ratings are going down. TV viewership is down, but is not declining as much as TV ratings. Overall, findings from this study can help collegiate athletic programs better understand how to market and prepare for a season of any sport.
